WPGphoto.com Contest #3: "Nature"
In association with Kavé Coffee Lounge

The theme for this contest is "Nature".
Dictionary.com defines "Nature" as:

1) The material world and its phenomena.
2) The forces and processes that produce and control all the phenomena of the material world: the laws of nature.
3) The world of living things and the outdoors: the beauties of nature.


Rules:
-Maximum one entry per participant.
-All photos must be submitted for judging without any identifying information so your name will not be associated with the print until the winners have been chosen. Therefore no identifying marks should be on the photos.
-Photos can have been taken anywhere in the world at any time.
-8x10 format (see below)
-Only minimal Photoshop use is allowed ie Levels, Sharpening, Saturation.
-Participants must currently reside in Manitoba
-Entries must be received by e-mail, midnight, September 30, 2005

Judging & Information:

The entries will be judged by:
René L. owner of Kavé Coffee Lounge
Dan H. owner of WPGphoto.com and DanHarperPhoto.com
Geoff L. of Monart and Alchemix.com and WPGphoto.com forum moderator
Steve S. of Chronic Creative
Jason P. of Computer Boulevard

Photos will be judged on standard criteria including: creativity, composition, colour balance, lighting and overall impact. Each judge will select their top six favorites in order. Each selection will then be given points based on their selection: 6pts for 1st choice, 5pts for 2nd choice etc down to 1pt for sixth choice.
The participant who's photo receives the most votes gets a free dinner for two at Kavé.

The photos will then be shown in a gallery at Kavé.
The six photos with the most points must then be submitted at 8x10 size on foam core at the participants expense. (Cost to do an 8x10 at Monart at 902 St James is $5 + tax.)
(At this point prints may have a signature but no other information on the photo, borders etc. You will be asked to submit a small write up about the photo to be posted separately)

The gallery will be up for approximately one month at which point the photos can be picked up by the participants.


Dates:
Photos to be submitted before midnight, September 30, 2005
Judging to take place before midnight October 7, 2005.
Photos to be submitted on foam core to Kavé Coffee Lounge, 336 Broadway, by October 17, 2005
